Cleveland Browns Jerseys

Browns Latest FA News and Rumors

– The Browns have signed rookie WR Greg Little (4 years, $3.32 MIL $920K guaranteed) and DE Jabaal Sheard (4 years, $5.09 MIL) to contracts. Expect the rest of the rookies to be signed tomorrow.

– QB Jake Delhomme, LB Eric Alexander and TE Tyson DeVree were cut by the team today. Delhomme is credited with much of current QB Colt McCoy’s success so far in the NFL.

– K Phil Dawson and TE Evan Moore have signed their tenders. Evan Moore could be a key target for McCoy in the new west coast offense this year.

– FA FS Usasma Young became the first free agent to sign with Cleveland today. The former Saint was used primarily on special teams during his four years in New Orleans, making six starts throughout his career. Look for the former Kent State product to possibly start along side T.J. Ward this season, with the Browns expected to let FS Abe Elam to walk.

– It’s been widely reported that FA DE Ray Edwards is going to wind up in Cleveland. This would be a huge get for Holmgren and Heckart. Edwards, who played with the Vikings last year, is going to command a big contract. However, it’s believed that he’s still pursuing his options and Atlanta is making it’s push.

– The Browns front office also added depth to the running back position today, signing former Packer Brandon Jackson to a 2 year $4.5 MIL contract. He should be a nice compliment to Hillis and Hardesty in the backfield.

– I fully expect the Browns to bring back CB Eric Wright. Wright could be a crucial piece in Cleveland as his addition would allow Sheldon Brown to move along side T.J. Ward at free safety. I know the team just signed Usama Young and he’s expected to start, but Brown has a ton of experience and makes more sense than the unproven Young.

– Look for the Browns to heat up their signing tomorrow, which is the first day teams can sign free agents (6PM). OT Willie Colon was a possibility for Cleveland, as was former Bengals’ CB Jonathan Joseph. However, Colon resigned with Pittsburgh and Joseph has reportedly signed with the Texans. It’s likely the Browns will still pursue a veteran wide receiver and will still try to add depth to it’s offensive line.
