New coach Pat Shurmur said Saturday that Watson apparently took a knee to the back of his helmet during the team’s first practice.
Watson slipped to the ground on the turf and was hit. He went to the sidelines, then slowly walked to the locker room, accompanied by trainers.
Two other offensive starters, wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and lineman Eric Steinbach, did not practice. Massaquoi wore a walking boot on his right ankle. Steinbach had his left knee wrapped.
Ben Watson walked off the Cleveland Browns practice field after taking a blow to the back of the head.
