Got a Question For Browns Starting Safety, T.J. Ward? Let Us Know!

T.J. Ward (#43) is the starting strong safety for the Cleveland Browns. Tomorrow, at 1:00 PM EST, I'll be conducting a phone interview with Ward, and what to know what questions you have for the hard-hitting safety.

Tomorrow, at 1:00 PM EST, I will be conducting a one-on-one interview with Browns’ starting strong safety, T.J. Ward.

Ward played his high school ball at prep powerhouse, De La Salle High School, and a contributor to the team’s 151 game winning streak. An injury his senior year kept him from being heavily recruited, so he opted to walk-on with the Oregon Ducks.

After receiving redshirt status his freshman year, Ward emerged as a starting corner on the Ducks’ defense, but injuries limited him to only 3 games. From there, he spent the 2007 season as a top reserve and special teams contributor, and finally cracked the starting line-up, for good, in 2008. After leading the Ducks in tackles (101), Ward was named Honorable Mention All-Conference for the PAC 10 in 2008.

Despite missing five games his senior season at Oregon due to an ankle injury, Ward finished the year with a total of 68 tackles, good for 5th on the team. In his final game at Oregon, Ward recorded 10 tackles in the team’s Rose Bowl loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

In the 2010 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns picked Ward in the 2nd Round with the 38th overall pick. When the preseason ended, the rookie strong safety emerged as a starter for the Browns, and quickly made a name for himself with his aggressive style of play in the secondary. (Just ask Jordan Shipley of the Cincinnati Bengals)

His rookie season was a great one in Cleveland, finishing the year with 128 total tackles (80 solo), 2 INTs, a forced fumble and 10 pass break-ups. Ward has teamed-up with Cleveland’s 1st Round Draft pick from last year, Joe Haden (CB), to give the Browns one of the finest, young secondaries in the NFL.

So far on the 2011 season, Ward has recorded 10 tackles and 2 pass deflections.
