Browns Lead Bengals 17-7 at Halftime in Battle of Ohio

In week one, the Browns were forced to battle back after a 10-0 deficit to the Bengals following the first quarter. Today, however, it’s the Bengals who will be forced to comeback, as they trail the Browns 17-7.

Here’s a quick look at how the first half has gone.

– I said that the Browns offense needed to get off to a hot start to have a shot today, and they did just that when McCoy found Jordan Norwood for a 24-yard touchdown pass, and a 7-0 lead with 11:01 to go in the first quarter.

– Cleveland’s run defense has improved after a dismal first quarter. Cincinnati’s Cedric Benson gashed the Browns D for 64 yards and a touchdown on just 9 carries in the first quarter. He has just 1 carry for 4 yards since.

– The Browns really do look like a different team out there today. They’re playing extremely well, and there’s even been a little creativeness from Coach Shurmur on offense. Coach said before the game that this match-up was a great opportunity to see how much his team has improved since week one, and so far, so good.

– Rookie wide receiver Greg Little is going to be a star in this league…eventually. He already has 3 drops in today’s game, but also has his first career touchdown reception. So far, he has 3 receptions for 23 yards and the lone touchdown. He also has 1 rush for 13 yards.

– Fellow rookie defensive end Jabaal Sheard is a stud, an absolute stud. He’s had a helluva season thus far, and has really out-played the Browns first round draft pick, Phil Taylor. Sheard has 3 tackles today, all solo, as well as a sack and forced fumble. Kid can play some ball.
