The Browns have placed tight end Ben Watson on injured reserve, head coach Pat Shurmur announced on Friday.
Watson, who turns 31 on Sunday, has sustained multiple concussions, including one in the first half of the team’s 14-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday night. The former first-round pick of the New England Patriots out of Georgia has 272 receptions for 3,275 yards and 25 touchdowns during his 100-game career.
In two seasons with the Browns, Watson has 105 receptions 1,173 yards and five touchdowns. Watson is signed through the 2012 season.
To replace Watson, fullback Eddie Williams has been signed off the practice squad.
