Browns Re-Sign Patterson, Bring Back OL Cousins, TE Smith

The Browns today a day after acquiring Frostee Rucker in free agency, have re-signed cornerback Dimitri Patterson.

According to Mike Florio at PFT , Patterson’s deal is worth $16 million and includes $6 million in guarantees.

The team also announced they have re-signed offensive lineman Oniel Cousins, tight end Alex Smith, and that defensive linemen Brian Schaefering signed his tender as an exclusive rights player.

Smith has appeared in 91 career regular season games with 53 starts, registering 147 receptions for 1,414 yards with 12 touchdowns. In 2011, he saw action in each of the first 14 games with four starts, recording 14 catches for 131 yards with one touchdown.

Cousins has appeared in 30 career regular season games with five starts. In 2011, he saw action in four contests with one start at right tackle.

    I’m good with bringing back Alex Smith and D Patterson. They have enough upside to be productive.

    I wish that I felt some connection with our O-linemen, but the way they opened holes for the Defense was pretty sad to watch.
