Make or Break Season for WR Mohamed Massaquoi?

Pro Football Weekly reports that this could be a make or break year for Browns WR Mohamed Massaquoi.

The 2012 season could be a crossroads of sorts for Browns WR Mohamed Massaquoi. The wideout has shown playmaking ability at various points in his first three seasons with the Browns, but he has never caught 40 passes in any of those campaigns, and he is in the final year of his contract.

With the Browns expected to add at least one wide receiver in the draft, perhaps early, the pecking order at the outside WR spots bears watching. WR Greg Little led the team in receptions as a rookie and is likely to keep a prominent role. Joshua Cribbs will also be in the mix for playing time.

I don’t expect MoMass to have a “Make” season.

He has been pretty consistent over the past years. During any game, he is likely to be open deep once (and McCoy will under-throw him, which prevents it from being a TD). He will catch a few passes underneath, but won’t gain much after the catch. On third downs, he will frequently be unable to make a first down due to his being too far away from the marker and not having enough drive to get there.

Perhaps a Manning-quality QB could upgrade him. McCoy hasn’t shown the ability to.

We will see what this year looks like . . . but MoMass hasn’t been a household name . . .
