LB Chris Gocong Done for the Year After Tearing Achilles

Browns linebacker Chris Gocong was carted off at practice this morning and it was feared that he had suffered an achilles injury.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Gocong has a torn right Achilles in practice this morning and will undergo surgery as early as Monday according to Browns coach Pat Shurmur said. He is out for the season.

It’s the second major injury to a defensive player this season. Defensive tackle Phil Taylor suffered a torn pectoral muscle in May and is out until at least late October or early November.

Ok, so let’s see whether we sit back or get as aggressive as possible in trying to secure someone to fill that gap. Our linebackers are one of our weakest positions on the field. I don’t think Gocong deserved the money they threw to him, now he’s out, and our backers are even weaker.
