Report: CB Joe Haden Facing Suspension After Failing Drug Test

There was a Twitter rumor last week that Browns CB Joe Haden was facing suspension after failing a drug test. The person who reported it later said he was just making it up.

Now, less than a week later, the rumor is appearing more and more real.

ESPN Cleveland is reporting that Haden, set to enter his 3rd season with the Browns, is facing a suspension for Adderall.

One source said that Haden tested positive for the prescription drug Adderall during a routine, off-season test administered in accordance with the NFL’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.

Adderall, which is commonly prescribed to treat attention deficit disorder and narcolepsy, is also used for excessive tiredness. It is on the NFL’s list of banned substances and is classified by the league as a stimulant.

According to sources, Haden has been notified that he tested positive. Under terms of the league policy, a positive test results in a second test from the original sample. If that shows up positive as well, Haden would be suspended for the first four games of the regular season.

In other news, running back Trent Richardson is going to have his sore knee checked out by Dr.James Andrews. It’s the same knee that he had scoped.

“Trent Richardson is traveling to Pensacola, Fla., where he will have his left knee further evaluated by Dr. James Andrews tomorrow,” coach Pat Shurmur said in a statement.
