The Browns have waived cornerback Dimitri Patterson, who signed a lucrative contract in the offseason.
Patterson, who started just four games this season and missed seven others with a high ankle sprain, signed a three-year deal in March worth $16 million — including $6 million guaranteed.
That means he received almost $1 million for each of his seven games this season.

And we waited this long to do this? I do not get it, he is healthy now and now we get rid of him. Every time we look like we are starting to pull our heads out of our !@#es, we do something like this to make us look bush league again.
The writing was on the wall, if you paid attention to Shurmer’s comments the past few weeks. Patterson didn’t want to play until he was 100% healthy. Shurmer said Patterson could make plays for their defense WHEN he was on the field. Shurmer also said that nobody is 100% healthy at this point in the season, but that Patterson seemed to want to wait until he was 100% before returning to play. It sounds clear to me that Shurmer wasn’t happy with Patterson’s attitude.
I guarantee you there were more than a few Browns players, who have been playing through injuries, that were also upset with Patterson’s “no play” attitude.
They will be drafting DBs — and signing others through FA . . .
