Chudzinski Doesn’t Give Weeden The Nod As The Starting QB

Rob Chudzinski got into some key details about players Thursday afternoon, including an update on the quarterback situation.

Speaking on 92.3 The Fan, Chudzinski was asked point blank by co-host Dustin Fox if he expects Brandon Weeden to be the starting quarterback.

Chudzinski’s long answer boiled down to “not yet,” and he continued to leave a door open to Jason Campbell.

Of last year’s No. 22 overall draft pick, Weeden, Chudzinski said:

“I’m pleased with his progress. His approach has been outstanding.”

Chudzinski said coaches are “working on (Weeden’s) mechanics and speeding up his delivery … just getting to know him.”

Campbell, a No. 25 overall draft pick in 2005, has been with the Browns for about a month.

Asked a direct question about whether Campbell has a chance to be the starter, Chudzinski said:

“We’ll just see as we go forward. I expect both of these guys to compete. I don’t know any other way.”

Well why would Chud give him the nod?! Everytime it looked like he had IT he would take a step back and it’s not like he is all of a sudden going to become fleet footed either! I said they should have traded down about ten spots or so and drafted Geno Smith and got back into the 2nd and got one of the better cornerbacks! Not hindsight at all because I said that prior to the draft, but WTF do I know?!
