McDaniels Withdraws His Name From Browns Coaching Search

In somewhat of a stunner, the reported number one choice for the next Browns head coach has said “no thank you.”

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has withdrawn his name from the teams coaching search, this after talking to the Browns over the weekend.

The interview with McDaniels was done with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and other members of the front office, as they flew to Massachusetts to interview McDaniels.

It was thought all along that it was McDaniels job to lose.

“The opportunities are certainly flattering if they come up,” McDaniels said in a conference call Monday.

“That being said, I am going to try to keep my focus on the Colts and our preparation this week. Like I’ve said in the past, I’m fortunate to have the job I have and I love being here.”

Arizona defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and Green Bay quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo have also interviewed for the job, and from here in, it’s wide open to who will be the man on the Browns sidelines in 2014.
