San Diego Padres Draft Johnny Manziel In MLB Draft

Boston Red Sox v Cleveland Indians

The San Diego Padres selected new Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel their 28th-round pick, 837th overall, Saturday afternoon, Jeff Sanders of UT San Diego reports.

The Texas A&M hasn’t played baseball since his high school days, but did throw out a first pitch at Petco Park in May 2013.

Before the first pitch, the Heisman Trophy winner took batting practice on the field, where he flew out to the warning track.

In other words, sounds like it was done for more than a goof and publicity than anything else.
