Not just the numbers -- but they were on the field. A team cannot go from retreads to youth and expect it to rise from the ashes overnight.

What people forget, or more likely neglect to look at is the Browns had 14 rookies on the roster last year and 29 players with 2 years experience or less. This is a very young team and they played like it, but to give up on them and to give up on the coaching staff when you look at the numbers of young players just doesn't make sense to me. They are growing and will continue to grow into a very tight knit nucleus we can all be proud of. Don't give up yet, there are good things coming.

We will see where this goes. This season will be the tell-tale of where this team is really at. I don't see them making a run for RGIII. If Hillis returns, I see OL, DE, WR and OLB. Might be able to find a CB and another WR in FA.

Shurmur has already said he will still call the plays. So much for an OC, title only, maybe Holmgren and Shurmur are getting kickbacks from their agent, all three, Holmgren, Shumur and Childress all have the same agent. So another year of a head coach who couldn't call a game to save his life. Should have hired some other teams DC, they all knew our offense better than Shurmur did!

Very good hire. Childress has a great record as a college and pro OC and QB coach. I've seen Browns fans complaining about this hire on other sites. I don't think any fair evaluation of Childress' record as an OC - the position he was hired for - could conclude he's not been effective. This could really help McCoy (if the Browns give him another year) or in developing RG3 if we go that route. If we had the smae kind of success they had in Philly with McNabb that Childress was a big part of, I'd be thrilled.

I'll come back here and eat my words if I'm wrong, but everything - our draft picks, free agency potential, 2nd year in the WC system, new OC, full off-season/training camp - point to a quantum-leap in improvement next year.

Optimistic? Yes, I am.

#1 - We would want him because the Titans typically have a good defense.

#2 - Another D-minded team got rid of him because they went through a coaching regime change. Coaches like their own guys, so he was expendable. That doesn't reflect on his coaching. Really, now. We've been through how many of these. You should recognize that.

This seems like a good signing. He seems like he has experience with a decent defense.

Who, and why would we want him if another defensive minded team got rid of him? Jeff Fisher didn't want him, nor Munchack, sounds like another good pick up for us. We lost our special teams coach and now our DB coach, wish we could keep quality coaches.

SIGN HIM! He was the Browns lead tackler before his injuries and now leads again after, he is also an exceptional locker room leader, this is a no brainer, DO IT!

And we won't be seeing the Baltimore Ravens -- who resemble the Browns of the late 80s -- ugly major losses and chokes which -- whether justified or not -- after a few years start to take their toll. You can hear it in the players' comments after the NE game. You could see it on their faces as the field goal attempt sailed wide left. Personnel is going to change, to be sure, and they cannot load up with draft choices. Pittsburgh's defense is getting long in the tooth. So is Baltimore's. Both can be beat with downfield passing. The playoffs showed that. First goal: win the division. Second goal: make the playoffs. Take care of first goal and second goal is also achieved.
