Hillis to Have MRI Monday on Pulled Hamstring

A tough loss, and now an injury to one of the key players on the team. Running back Peyton Hillis, who had just 14 yards on 6 carries in the loss, will have an MRI Monday on a his pulled hamstring. Hillis left the game against the Raiders today with a pulled hamstring, just making what has been a tough season for the back even worse.

He has a total of 60 carries for 211 yards with two touchdowns, though none have come since a Week 2 win over the Colts. Hillis sat out Week 3 with strep throat and has just 20 carries for 60 yards in the two games since.

“It’s all frustrating,” said Hillis. “But when it rains it pours and you just kinda roll with the punches. Everything’s a life-learned lesson. The more optimistic you are about it, the more positive you can be and have an open mindset about it, the better off you’ll be.”

The 2008 seventh-round pick out of Arkansas is coming off a breakout season, rushing for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2010, production that landed him on the cover of the Madden ’12 video game. In the final year of his rookie contract, Hillis has changed agents twice and has conceded that his contract situation has affected him this season.

Hillis’ new agent, Kennard McGuire, advised him to sit out in Week 3. Even before a determination on the extent of his hamstring injury is known, Hillis is stating his intention to play next week against the Seahawks.

“Hopefully I can try to play next week. If I’m not 100 percent, I still want to play. We’ll see how that works out, see what the trainers say and hopefully I can be out there next week.”

A terible loss and now one out of approx 3 play makers are out. We have a serious issue here and its not gonna go away until someone see we need to get some talent on this team. Im very frustated over this loss because teams can zone in on Josh Cribbs and Peyton Hillis and we seem to be dead offensively. Additionally, will someone tell Coach Shumur to relinquish the off coord position. He needs to be overseeing the overall big picture on offense, defense, and special teams, but he cannot effectively do that by calling plays!!! We need an ace for an off coord and we need him now. Dont understand when this team is ever get smarter. on a positive note, I like the way they are signing key members, ie, Atayba Rubin, Joe Thomas…this is a bright spot, but the rest of the room is still in the dark.

    very respectfully,
